Press Release: Commission adopts document on ‘Methodology for analysing state aid linked to stranded costs’ in the electricity sector

When the electricity market was a closed market some electricity companies made long-term investments or commitments that have become uneconomical since liberalisation of the sector. The European Commission has adopted a document which sets out the principles which will be used to assess granting of State aid to offset losses in this sector as a result of liberalisation.
