Press Release: Diamantopoulou welcomes Cyprus’s agreement to shadow Community employment policy in run-up to accession

Employment Commissioner, Anna Diamantopoulou, and Cypriot Labour and Social Insurance Minister, Andreas Moushouttas signed an agreed joint assessment by the Commission and Cyprus of the country's progress in preparing its jobs market for EU membership on & December 2001. The assessment already carried out for seven other candidate countries congratulates Cyprus on its top position amongst candidate countries in economic development and its sustained level of full employment (2000 unemployment rate of 4.8%).
