Summary: The European Commission decided on 21 March 2007 to send a reasoned opinion to Estonia for failure to transpose Directive 2000/59/EC, which aims at reducing discharges of ship-generated waste and cargo residues into the sea from ships using ports in the European Union. Further information: The Directive 2000/59/EC (also known as PRF Directive) relates to port reception facilities for ship-generated waste and cargo residues. The European Commission's decision to send a Reasoned Opinion to the Estonian authorities was prompted by the insufficient transposition by the Member States of the Directive's provisions on ship inspections. |
