Press Release: The European Commission congratulates the Prime Minister of Guinea on forming a cabinet

The European Commission congratulates Mr Lansana Kouyaté, the Prime Minister of Guinea, on forming a broad consensus cabinet in accordance with the agreements drawn up between the authorities and the unions in late February 2007. It welcomes the spirit of dialogue that presided over the appointment of the cabinet, which was chosen after intense consultation with civil society, the political parties and independent persons of standing. The Commission hails Mr Kouyaté's intention to promote social and political dialogue and to implement the agreements drawn up with the political parties to ensure that elections are held in a free and transparent manner.
