The leaders of the Czech Republic and Poland said February 2007 they are in favour of letting the US build parts of its missile defence system on their soil. Russia has condemned the plan, saying it will be able to target the sites. Later in the week it emerged that the UK and US have also held high level talks on the possibility of putting ballistic missile interceptors on British soil. Although authorities stressed that the missiles were not against Russia, the Russian authorities expressed their displeasure. |
