Rusal, the Russian aluminium group, unveiled 9 October 2006 its long-awaited takeover of local rival Sual, a deal that will create the world's largest aluminium company. The deal will also include the acquisition of aluminium assets from Glencore, the Swiss metals trader, and it is estimated that the new company, to be called United Company Rusal, will be worth between $27bn and $30bn. |
