The European Court of Human Rights ruled on the 24 July 2014 that the CIA had run a secret jail on Polish soil, a judgment that added to pressure on the United States and its allies to reveal the truth about the global programme for detaining al Qaeda suspects. The judgement, which is not final, found that Poland had violated a number of articles of the European Convention on Human Rights, including the prohibition of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment as well as the right to a fair trial. |
