Press Release: For the EU’s young people : more participation and information needed to nurture an active citizenship

In a Communication adopted on 20 July 2006, the Commission emphasises the need to improve the information for the young in order to get their full involvement in democratic life at both national and European level. The Communication is a follow-up to the 2003 White Paper on a 'New Impetus for European Youth', in which Member States undertook to incorporate the concerns of Europe’s young people in policy making actions. It calls upon the Member States to pursue their actions aiming at procuring better information and governance of young people.
