Press Release: Information note by the European Court of Auditors on Special Report No 4/2006 concerning Phare Investment Projects in Bulgaria and Romania

The European Court of Auditors on 20 June 2006 presented its Special Report No 4/2006 concerning Investment Projects under the Phare Programme in Bulgaria and Romania. The purpose of the Court's audit was to assess the performance of these projects in the two countries. The conclusions were based on the examination of a sample of 48 supply and works contracts which represent Phare support of €14 million for Bulgaria and €51 million for Romania. The final payments for these programmes had been made in 2005.
