Following a new outbreak of classical swine fever on a farm in the municipality of Borken (Germany), the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health on 8 May 2006 backed a European Commission proposal to suspend the movement of all pigs and impose precautionary measures in the 'Regierungsbezirke' Arnsberg, Münster and Düsseldorf, in North-Rhine Westphalia. The proposal was backed by an extraordinary meeting of the Standing Committee for the Food Chain and Animal Health, which was convened in the margins of a scheduled meeting of Chief Veterinary Officers. |
