Abstract: European democracies are dominated by parties. Hence party laws are an element of the constitutional law. Accordingly, even small shortcomings and changes are fiercely debated. This makes it all the more surprising that the public has hardly taken any note of the new European Party Regulation, although many principles of party law developed in EU Member States are in danger of being undermined by Brussels. Therefore, the European Regulation should not be left out of the discussion about the European Constitution. |
