Press Release: Solidarity Fund: 106 million EURO for 2005 floods in Bulgaria, Romania and Austria

In the first 'preliminary draft amending budget' (PDAB) of the year 2006, adopted on 10 March 2006, the European Commission proposed to grant EUR 20.4 million to Bulgaria, EUR 71.2 million to Romania and EUR 14.8 million to Austria, to reimburse a part of the public expenditure for emergency operations carried out during devastating floods in spring and summer 2005. The thorough assessment carried out by Commission’s services had concluded that the conditions were met for the mobilisation of the EU Solidarity Fund.
