Brussels to accuse banking industry of stalling on single euro payments area

The European Commission wants the Single Euro Payments Area to be operational by 2010, and is critical of the slow progress made by the banking industry in setting up the scheme. SEPA will allow consumers and businesses to make non-cash payments in euros as simply, cheaply and effectively as domestic transfers.
