EU urges stricter French BSE controls

The European Commission has asked France to halt exports of animal feed containing meat and bonemeal as it attempts to tackle the widening crisis over mad cow disease or BSE. Food Safety Commissioner David Byrne said Paris should apply to exports the same measures it has put in place for its own consumers.
