On 1.12.00, the Council of the European Union reached political agreement on the Commission's draft directive to improve the rules governing product safety in Europe, revising the Directive on General Product Safety (92/59/EEC). The general product safety directive has two complimentary objectives: ensuring a high and consistent level of protection for consumer health and safety throughout Europe and the proper functioning of the Internal Market. |
