ECB pledges silence on intervention

European Central Bank officials have decided to leave interest rates for the 11-country eurozone unchanged at 4.75%, even though the euro hit a new lifetime low against the US dollar. At a news conference after an ECB Council meeting, Mr Duisenberg said that from now on he would not comment any more on any questions about central bank intervention on the currency markets.
