Commissioner Chris Patten opens Third Round of EU-Mercosur Association Negotiations

The third round of EU-Mercosur and EU-Chile negotiations took place in Brasilia (7-10 November) and Santiago de Chile (13-16 November), coinciding with the visit by European Commissioner for External Relations Chris Patten to Brazil, Argentina and Chile. Commissioner Patten opened the third round of negotiations with Mercosur in Brasilia on 7 November, underlining the strong commitment and priority given to the EU-Mercosur negotiations by the European Union. The third round included negotiations on co-operation, trade and political dialogue.
