French blamed for climate talks failure

The UK Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, has blamed the French for the failure of the global warming summit to agree on curbing greenhouse gas emissions. Last-minute attempts by the UK to broker a compromise between the European Union and the United States were unsuccessful at the UN climate conference in the Netherlands in November 2000.
