The European Commission has welcomed the latest annual report of the Information Society Forum which highlights the increasing importance of access to modern information and telecommunication networks for all citizens with respect to full participation in all areas of society. The Forum was founded in 1995 to advise the European Commission independently and has since produced a number of reports and recommendations. Its representatives are appointed from a variety of different groups, including the social partners, to contribute to open debate and reflection on the challenges of the Information Society. The Forum currently has 180 members. |
