The EU has a trade surplus with Mexico, which increased steadily during the period considered, passing from 1.3 billion ECU in 1995 to 5.7 billion euro in 1999. The value of EU exports to Mexico more than doubled, passing from 4.5 billion ECU to 10.4 billion euro, whereas the value of imports increased by 46% , from 3.2 billion ECU to 4.7 billion euro. These figures reflect a real increase in trade volumes, rather than price rises. |
