Croatia has become the 26th member of Nato's Partnership for Peace programme. The country's inclusion in the programme, designed to spread the alliance's influence well beyond its own frontiers, is reward for Croatia's efforts towards democracy and its role in the jigsaw of Balkan security. Croatia's foreign minister, Tonino Picula, signed the framework document at a ceremony at the Nato's foreign ministers' meeting in Florence on 25.5.00. |
