Book abstract:

Published by the Swedish Institute, this pamphlet is part of a series produced to coincide with Sweden's presidency of the EU in 2001. Each pamphlet details Sweden's relations with each of the Union's Member States and candidate countries, dealing with both historical ties and with present-day relations. The aim is to enhance understanding of each other's countries and also to foster interest in the Union and its enlargement.

The publication covers a brief history of Swedish-British relations, and looks at the cultural influence of Sweden and its inhabitants on Britain, from painting to music and football. Design and architecture and science and academia are also covered, before looking at the political and economic relationship between the two countries. The conclusion is drawn that there is more that unites than divides the two countries.
