Press Release: Commission organises a conference on the sharing of responsibilities for decentralised management of the Structural Funds

Michel Barnier, the Commissioner for Regional Policy and responsible 'ad personam' for the Intergovernmental Conference, convened a meeting in Brussels on 5.6.00 of those in the Member States responsible for financial management, checking and evaluation of Structural Fund assistance. About 400 people attended this working meeting on the efficient, decentralised implementation of the new division of responsibilities between the Commission and the Member States resulting from the recasting of the Structural Fund regulations as they will apply in 2000-06.
