The appointment of the new Commission and the decision to dispense with a numbering system for the Directorates General has resulted in numerous web address changes on the Europa server. These changes are still in progress so there may be old sites which are still valid - and can be reached by using the old address - while the new site is still under construction. The need to check old sites is particularly true for those DGs such as DGX where responsibilities have been divided. Links and bookmarks will need to be verified. While the restructuring of the Directorates General continues and the alterations are being made, the simplest route to ensure access to the latest information is to connect to the new Commission page at http://europa.eu.int/comm/dgs_en.htm/. Meantime as the changes are put into place, the speed of the Europa server is often proving frustratingly slow.
