EURO developments: Bank charges. The Commission has published a report on the response of the European banking associations to the Commission's Recommendation on bank charges for conversion to the euro. Over-all, the Commission has concluded that banks do not plan to charge for converting accounts and payments into the euro from 1.1.99. The Commission thus feels that there is no present case for legislative action in this area, but asks for individuals or organisations to report such changes if they occur. |
