Education Council, Brussels, 20.11.97. The Council gave its political agreement to the text of the Recommendation on European co-operation in quality assurance in higher education. The Commission Communication 'Towards a Europe of knowledge' (see below) was submitted to the Council. Council adopted a Resolution on early teaching of EU languages, and reached Conclusions on quality assurance in schools education. EU Education Ministers met with their equivalent colleagues from the Associated Countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
