Recent publications from the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA): The purpose of this EIPA publication is to summarise and analyse Agenda 2000. It begins with an introductory overview of the document, including a comparative analysis of the status of the ten applicant states, their administrations, and the actions they have taken or plan to take to prepare for membership. This introduction is followed by country-by-country analysis of the Commission's opinions, including a brief outline of the current economic, political, administrative and legal situation in the applicant states. Finally, an overview and analysis of the Commission's opinion in the areas mentioned above is presented. The aim of the publication is not only to provide an insight into the content of Agenda 2000 but, more significantly, to provide an analysis of what it means for prospective enlargement, from the perspective of the applicant states as well as the existing Member States, and for the continuation of European integration within the European Union.
