Meeting in Strasbourg on 12 April 2005, Members of the European Parliament voted against reforms designed to tighten control of pension contributions and travel expenses, as well as proposals to end the expensive commute between the Parliaments in Brussels and Strasbourg. The proposals were contained in a budgetary discharge report for 2003 by MEP Ona Jukneviciene.

MEPs also rejected a proposal by Liberal MEPs to create a code of professional ethics.
