In a move likely to antagonise the French Government, Germany's Finance Ministry has proposed cutting the share of regional aid allocated to Member States' wealthier regions from 18% to about 10% of total aid. Germany, France, Austria, the UK, the Netherlands and Sweden all want tight curbs on EU spending, but Germany's proposal confirms the group is deeply divided on how the budget should be controlled.
