Press Release: Reviewing management of commission departments and services: building on the reform and developing an integrated internal control framework

The European Commission on 15 June 2005 adopted three major communications - the Commission's Synthesis Report for 2004, the roadmap for an internal control framework and the annual report to the discharge authority on audits carried out in 2004. The three papers formed a coherent whole covering management within the Commission. They marked the consolidation of the administrative reform initiated in 2000 and were meant to underline the European Commission's determination to strengthen the internal control framework by setting out a roadmap with a view to securing a statement of assurance (DAS) from the European Court of Auditors with only minor reservations.
