Declaration by the Presidency on behalf of the European Union concerning recent developments in Ecuador

On the 22 April 2005, the European Union reminded that it remained deeply concerned about the unstable political and social situation in Ecuador.

The European Union deplored the deaths which occurred during recent demonstrations and appealed to the government and to political forces to fi nd a peaceful, consensual and negotiated solution to the present crisis, so as to bring about a rapid return to constitutional normality.
