Press Release: Commission assesses the updated stability programme of the Netherlands (2004-2007)

The European Commission on 11 January 2005 recommended to the Council of the EU to encourage the Netherlands to pursue its efforts with a view to keeping its budget deficit below 3% in 2005 and to achieve a budgetary position close to balance thereafter. This followed the assessment of the updated stability programme of the Netherlands for the period 2004-2007 in accordance with EU budgetary surveillance rules.
