Early indications from the Romanian parliamentary elections, 28 November 2004, show the ruling Social Democratic Party leading the opposition Democratic Alliance with around 40 per cent of the vote. The presidential election on the same day however looks set for a run-off between Adrian Nastase, PSD prime minister, and the DA's Traian Basescu, mayor of Bucharest and may go to a second round.
