Following the agreement at the European Council in Brussels on 18 June 2004 on a European Union Constitution, a group of 28 senior executives and academics sent an open letter of complaint to UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, warning that he had 'committed Britain to a structure that will harm our prosperity and weaken democracy'.
