Press Release: Health ministers to map out a pan-European strategy on noncommunicable diseases by 2006

The strategy is to target the main killer diseases in the Region, such as cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and respiratory diseases. It will also explore ways to counter the risk factors responsible for their heavy and growing burden: tobacco use, alcohol abuse, raised blood pressure, raised cholesterol, overweight or obesity, low fruit and vegetable intake, and physical inactivity.
