Press Release: The Netherlands: Government Decision: Migration and Development Policy – Strength in Teamwork

Migration plays an important role in the growth of developing countries. It is for that reason that the policy areas of migration and development, which have been separate up to this point, will work together more closely in the future. If the Netherlands wants to keep the influx of immigrants manageable, it will have to devote most of its energies to problems in the countries of origin. That is the view of the government, as outlined in the policy memorandum on development and migration which was sent to parliament today
