Policy statement

A joint consultation was published in October 2003 by the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) and HM Treasury on proposals to implement the requirements of the Financial Groups Directive. It also consulted on wider FSA proposals for insurance groups. This policy and feedback statement is issued jointly by the FSA and HM Treasury. Part I (please click on the Source Url) sets out the FSA's financial policy and deals with the responses to and feedback on FSA's proposals. It also contains the final made Handbook text with which firms should comply. Part 2 (please click on the first Related Url) deals with the responses to HM Treasury's proposals to legislate for procedural aspects of the Directive and includes the Statutory Instrument. The joint Policy Statement finalises FSA and Treasury policy to implement the requirements of the Directive in the UK by 11 August 2004. The Regulations will come into force on 10 August 2004.
