Ireland is the most entrepreneurially active country in the European Union and to the fore in Europe as a whole according to the Irish Report of GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor) for 2003 launched on 29 April 2004 by Mary Harney, the Irish Deputy Prime Minsiter (T´naiste) and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment. GEM 2003 is the fifth global assessment of national entrepreneurial activity. GEM is a long-term, large-scale multinational research programme co-ordinated jointly by the London Business School and Babson College in the USA. The research also involves a consortium of teams from each of the countries involved in the study. |
