Press Release: Commission launches Euro-Mediterranean migration project worth EUR 2 million

The European Commission has signed a contract with the Florence-based European University Institute to carry out a support project for immigration, movements of persons and social integration of immigrants in the Mediterranean region. The €2 million project is funded under the MEDA programme and will have a duration of 3 years. It aims to monitor, analyse and forecast flows in the EU and Mediterranean region with a view to help the Mediterranean Partners in their efforts to develop and implement migration policies. The project will carry out the activities envisaged in the third component of the MEDA Regional Programme on Justice, Combating Drugs, Organised Crime and Terrorism, launched in 2003
