New body created to strengthen Franco-German co-operation

France and Germany are to establish a top-level secretariat to co-ordinate more closely the two countries' policies on a wide range of issues. The French and German leaders are expected to endorse the idea of joint cabinet meetings, the first of which was held on 22 January 2003 in Paris.
