The Irish Minister for Agriculture and Food, Joe Walsh, in December 2003, announced the agricultural programme for the Irish Presidency of the EU as part of the overall Irish Presidency programme. The specific objectives of the Irish Presidency would be to facilitate the application of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) to the new Member States, to continue the process of simplification of the CAP initiated by the Mid-term Review decisions of June 2003 and to enhance food safety standards. |
