Cod fishing ban proposed

A report published by the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) on 24 October 2003 recommends a ban on cod fishing off the west of Scotland, in the North Sea and in the Irish Sea to relieve the pressure on fish stocks and allow them to recover.
