Public Information Europe changes

The London based company Public Info Net, run by Celia Hampton and John Clements, has for some time produced an excellent current awareness service monitoring policy developments and events in Europe. It catalogues a wide range of material on economic, environmental, legal, political and social issues from a variety of sources and organises the data to make relevant information more easily accessible. It was possible to subscribe free of charge to a tailored e-mail alert service which ran alongside the daily and weekly fee-paying subscription services. The information supplied was of course more limited, but with a link to a brief summary providing key details and the option of linking further to the full text, it was a valuable way of keeping on top of what was happening in policy areas of interest. Sadly however the free e-mail alert service has now been withdrawn. The company is currently reconsidering its options and seeking comments from its users.
Although the convenience of push-technology is no longer available, it is still possible to visit the site at http://www.publicinfo.net and view the latest headlines or select from the drop-down menus to customise the display to show only the items on subjects of interest. It does however require a conscious effort to make regular visits to the site to ensure that key information is not inadvertently missed.
