PECAs prepare way for Union’s enlargement

PECAs (Protocols to the Europe Agreements on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products) are a useful pre-accession tool helping to integrate future Member States in central and eastern Europe into the single market before accession. These bilateral trade agreements encourage future Member States to bring their legislation into line with the Union's and to develop the necessary standardisation, conformity assessment and market surveillance infrastructure.
