At the Extraordinary Session of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council in Brussels on 6 May 2003, the Spanish Minister for Health and Consumer Affairs, Ana Pastor, put forward several proposals to intensify the fight against the SARS virus, including that of exerting greater control over travellers entering the Schengen area from risk regions.
