Speaking on Italian television on the 10 May 2003, EU Commission President Romano Prodi has launched an unprecedented attack on the Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi in a internal dispute that could have wider European repercussions as Italy takes over the EU Presidency in July 2003.
