Users of the web version of the Bulletin of the European Union will be pleased to see the improvements that have been made. It is now no longer necessary to rely on the limited index to track down information when you do not have a full bibliographic reference. A search engine has been added to the site. You can select to search in full text or title only, specify that an exact phrase or all search terms must be present, and enter date limits. The language and display order can also be set. From the hits list you are linked to the full text of the specific paragraph in the bulletin. One of the extremely useful features of the bulletin has always been that it not only gives a brief step by step summary of developments but it also provides the references to the relevant documents. From 2003 the references to the Official Journal and COM documents are now live hyperlinks. This is a clear bonus in using the web version. For the COM documents, the link goes to the full record in the PreLex database, where in turn it is possible to link to the full text of the document or simply see what stage it has now reached. The Official Journal link leads to the Table of Contents of the issue in Eur-Lex. To see the changes select the “Official Documents” link from the Europa home page or go directly to http://europa.eu.int/abc/doc/off/bull/en/welcome.htm. |
