Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission, and the European Commissioner for External Relations, Chris Patten, met with the President of the Republic of Croatia, Stjepan Mesic, on 10 February 2003 to discuss the current status of relations between the EU and Croatia. During the meeting President Prodi underlined the Commission's support for Croatia's reform process and reiterated the European integration perspective for Croatia and other South-eastern European countries. President Mesic advised that it was Croatia's intention to submit an application for EU membership on 18 February 2003. |
