The Irish Minister for the Environment and Local Government, Martin Cullen, announced on 30 December 2002, that the landfilling of recyclable commercial waste would be banned from 1 March 2003. New regulations, designed to promote the recovery of packaging waste, would facilitate the achievement, by Ireland, of the 2005 targets for the recovery of packaging waste required by the EU Directive on Packaging and Packaging Waste. |
