John Bruton was the Prime Minister of Ireland from 1994 to 1997. In his address to the Joint Committee on European Affairs, he considered whether the work of the Convention could be compared to the Convention that created the United States of America. He also looked at the background in recent European history, to the creation of the Convention on the Future of Europe. Lastly, he considered the key success factors for the Convention and the risks to the project.
